General Discussion / Re: Earthquakes Australia
« Last post by hrvistaweather on April 24, 2018, 10:01:13 PM »
Last night we had our closest Earthquake thus far.
originally reported as 1.7 mag at 0 Depth and Distance from our station was 6.9 km.
After Geoscience did their Solution Review, ended up being 1.4 mag at 10 km Depth and Distance from our station 10.11 km.

I've added new scripts using MySql / PHP / Crons etc to display not only all quakes which I already had, but also now on my index page I display nearby Quakes if they occur automatically scripted.

More info on my site : https://southfranklinweather.com/weather/wxnews.php

I am currently waiting for my new purchase $620.00 for a Raspberry Shake 4D (may take 2 weeks to arrive) can't wait to get it up and running, any one else using one ?

Saratoga Template / End user feedback on recent website modifications.
« Last post by hrvistaweather on February 16, 2018, 06:32:11 PM »
Hi,
My Saratoga Template over the years has been heavily modified in order to cater for Australian/Tasmanian based display.
Reason being most current templates only cater for Europe/US etc, so from a Radar/Synop/Fire/Warnings/Alerts/Advisories/Earthquakes/etc...etc. point I have had to script my own.
Over time they have resulted in my main Index page becoming slow to load, hung on start while accessing the multiple Alert/Warning/etc. checks I had included over time.
So today set about doing a first pass major cleanup, and although I still have a couple of unresolved ones, which I will eventually fix, I was hoping to get some feedback from any of you with regards the now current index page load from a user point of view.
If you could take the time and have a view and give your feedback via post, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ken's response:

It appears to be a JavaScript error from the Google Maps API code.
In Firefox it says:

in Microsoft Edge it says:

SCRIPT5007: SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'apply' of undefined or
null reference js (120,483)

It looks like a Google Map API issue (it's their code that is causing
the halt).. I'll continue to investigate.

General Discussion / Earthquakes Australia
« Last post by hrvistaweather on February 09, 2018, 12:51:19 AM »
Hi all,
A topic not talked about by many in Australia, over the years I have come to the fruition that many just take the (Ostrich head in the sand) approach.

I have monitored Aus Quakes closely since 2000 and I must admit I am a bit obsessed with it to a point.

Though I have developed over the years an import to MySql of the data supplied from http://www.ga.gov.au/earthquakes/initRecentQuakes.do including functions within MySql to determ Distance to my Station Location based on Lat/Lon and then scripts to display outputs in the form of (google Map data point/marker) and PHP based List Outputs to display info per quake along with color coded Distance from Station local highlights and links to the core source, being before mentioned GA.Gov pages per quake.

All other standard scripts available to Aussie (PWS) users, are US/GLOBAL Data Source based, which do not usually contain all our Aussie Local Quakes (only Significant (3 or 4 (+) mag)) .

Just thought I would share what I do, Kind regards, Tony
